Seminars & Speaking Engagements
We are always having in-house seminars, workshops, or speaking at local clubs, chambers, or community functions. Below is our current schedule.
The classes have been spoken very highly of in past years, both by the education department and by the attendees. We believe these classes will be a valuable resource to you in these economic times. Let’s face it, in rough times, proper management is key to success and getting through the tough times. These classes are specifically geared toward that purpose.
Starting a Business
Offered through Montgomery County Community College (3/23/10 & 3/25/10 6:30-8:45pm and again on 5/22/10 8:30am-1pm), and offered through Souderton School District’s community education program (2 Tues 1/26/10 – 2/2/10 7-9pm). This class will cover different entity structures, the advantages and disadvantages of each structure, tax ramifications and planning opportunities for each type. It will also briefly cover the initial filing requirements, and ongoing filing requirements of each entity. Other considerations unique to starting a business will also be discussed, such as financing, succession planning, titled assets, and most importantly, why small businesses struggle and almost always fail to reach their potential. Registrations must be handled through MCCC or SACE. You can visit MCCC’s or SACE website for more information. For MCCC, see the spring brochure under the Blue Bell and Pottstown campuses. Presented by Brent Thompson, CPA CMA. Don Petrille, Attorney at Law, will guest speak at the SACE program.

- Subject #1 – This class will discuss the importance of working “on” your business rather than “in” your business. It will discuss the importance of the owner working as a manager rather than the technician. This is accomplished through systematizing processes so the owner is free to pursue growing the business and enjoying the rewards of ownership.
- Subject #2 – This class will discuss the only four ways to grow your business; gaining more customers, increasing the number of times a customer returns, increasing the average sale value, and making processes within the business more efficient. It will focus on the importance of increasing sales rather than cutting costs.
- Subject #3 – This class will discuss unique core differentiators. In other words, how you can make a business different so customers will want to do business with you instead of your competitors. It will talk about types of differentiators, how to come up with them, and the numerous benefits of having them.
- Subject #4 – This class will discuss the importance of long term business planning and the periodic measurement against that plan. Management can use key performance indicators to help evaluate the business development against the plan, as well as the overall operational performance. This class will mainly focus on the definition and development process of key performance indicators.
- Subject #5 – This class will discuss the importance of managing cash flow. It will include an example of how a growing and profitable business can ultimately fail due to poor cash flow planning thus highlighting the importance of matching cash inflows with cash outflows. We will discuss ways to accelerate inflows and delay outflows and have a number of exercises in cash flow management.
- Subject #6 – This class will discuss the methods of valuing a business and the inherent problems with them. It will discuss how to increase and maintain the value of your business, and why you should know the value of your business at all times.
As you can see, these courses will prove to be highly beneficial for those starting a business and those wishing to develop their business further.

An informative series on the current economy. Helpful information for helping your business grow.
